# Managing Data Source Permissions In open.DASH, permissions for individual data sources can be managed in detail at both the role and user levels. This guide walks you through the process of assigning these rights. --- ## 1. Accessing Administration * On the dashboard, navigate to the **Administration** module (represented by the gear icon). * In the left sidebar, under the **Data & Connectors** section, select **Data Sources**. ## 2. Selecting the Data Source * An overview of all available data sources will appear. * Locate the desired **Data Source** in the list. * In the corresponding row, click the **Key Icon** (**Edit Permissions**) on the right side. ## 3. Configuring Permissions A dialog window will open with two tabs: **Roles** and **Users**. ### A. Assigning Permissions to Roles 1. Click on the **Roles** tab. 2. Find the relevant **User Role** in the list. 3. Check the boxes for the desired access levels: * **Read:** Allows the role to view the data from the source. * **Write:** Allows the role to make changes to or configure the data source. ### B. Assigning Permissions to Individual Users 1. Switch to the **Users** tab. 2. Here, you can specifically assign rights to **individual persons** (identified by their name or email address). 3. Again, activate or deactivate the checkboxes for **Read** and **Write** as needed. ## 4. Saving Settings * Once you have made all desired adjustments, click the **Save Permissions** button in the bottom right of the dialog window. * The system will apply the changes immediately, and the window will close. --- > **Note:** Changes to permissions take effect immediately. Ensure you grant only the minimum necessary rights to maintain data security.
